Genesis Futsal Club have achieved the greatest milestone in the club's history, being crowned National Champions of England for the first time and securing qualification for the UEFA Futsal Champions League. Following an unforgettable season filled with dedication, sacrifice, resilience and ambition, Genesis have reached the pinnacle of English futsal and will now represent England on the European stage.

The Grand Final: Genesis vs Bolton Futsal Club

With the National Futsal Series Tier 1 title secured, Genesis turned their attention to the Grand Final, where a talented, energetic and highly respected Bolton Futsal Club side stood between them and National Championship glory.

Held at Repton School in Derby, the final brought together two of the best futsal teams in England in a contest worthy of the occasion.

What followed was a dramatic and unforgettable battle that showcased English futsal at its very best.

Genesis struck first through Eddie Amorim, who finished off an excellent team move with a composed close-range finish to give the East London side a deserved lead. Despite creating further opportunities, Genesis went into the half-time break leading 1-0, knowing there was still plenty of work to be done.

The second half began perfectly for Genesis. Seven minutes after the restart, Hector Duppre doubled the advantage after an aggressive high press forced an error from the Bolton goalkeeper. Duppre reacted quickest, winning possession before finishing from a tight angle to make it 2-0.

Bolton responded strongly and pulled a goal back four minutes later, reducing the deficit to 2-1 and setting up a tense final period.

With just five minutes remaining and Genesis holding onto their narrow lead, they appeared to have delivered the decisive blow. Eddie Amorim produced a moment of brilliance down the left flank before finding pivot Richard Ward, who cleverly laid the ball into the path of Claudio Goncalves. With composure, Claudio placed the ball into the net and the Genesis supporters erupted in celebration, believing their side had secured a crucial third goal and a two-goal cushion. However, confusion followed as the goal was not awarded.

The momentum swung dramatically.

Bolton capitalised on the lifeline and found an equaliser in the closing moments of normal time, bringing the score level at 2-2 and forcing the final into extra time.

The first period of extra time was played at a relentless pace, with both teams exchanging dangerous counter-attacks and searching for a breakthrough. As the opening extra-time period seemed destined to end scoreless, Genesis found a moment of magic with just five seconds remaining. A hopeful long pass forward found pivot Ivan Cadete-Borges, directing a header home from a tight angle to restore Genesis' lead.

Genesis entered the second period of extra time leading 3-2 and were just moments away from completing the job. With only 30 seconds remaining, Bolton with their fly goalkeeper in a final desperate attempt to rescue the game. They moved the ball quickly before finding a finish at the back post to level the score once again at 3-3.

After 50 minutes of high-quality futsal, neither side could be separated.

The National Championship would be decided by penalties.

Bolton converted their opening penalty to take an early advantage before Richard Ward scored on his second attempt.

Bolton scored their second.

Eddie Amorim stepped up confidently and found the back of the net to level the shootout.

Bolton's third penalty was dragged wide.

Charlie Kuehn then calmly converted Genesis' third spot-kick to put his side ahead.

Bolton's fourth penalty also missed the target.

With Genesis leading 4-2 in the shootout and one kick away from history, club captain Angel Martinez stepped forward to take the decisive penalty. The captain showed incredible composure under immense pressure. He calmly found the back of the net.
